Our Training - How it works | Who should come on this course? | What is the time commitment? | Is the course accredited? | Booking a place on the course | Venue | Who are the trainers? | What people have said about our training
In our training programme we cover the essential elements and skills of mediation and help participants to put them into practice, using role-play. Throughout the course, the trainees and trainers take it in turn to be in the mediator's chair during role-play and then participate in discussion and analysis of the process.
Since we train people to mediate all types of conflict, the role-plays are drawn from different areas of conflict and may include conflicts selected by trainees.
The course does not require prior mediation experience.
It is suitable for people with background or experience in a related field, such as:
and anyone interested in alternative dispute resolution.
Four participants per trainer are generally accepted for each course, to ensure that each trainee gets individual attention and feed-back especially during role-play.
A 75,000-word training manual is provided to each participant.
The training runs over seven and a half days. The first section runs over six 8-hour days. We then break for a month or so to enable trainees to reflect on what we have discussed, and study the Training Manual. We then meet again for a further day and a half. This time, the trainees set the agenda, by telling us what areas they want to cover in more detail. We aim to include some role-play in this section too.
The training is accredited by the Association for Conflict Resolution (A.C.R.) in the US and also by the Mediators Institute Ireland (M.I.I.).
To reserve a place on the training course contact either Adele Gannon by telephone @ 01 8328730/01 2892896 or Grace Corrigan via email.
The cost of the course is €1,850. A non-refundable deposit of €600 confirms your booking and reserves a place.
Courses are run on a regular basis in the Dublin area and at venues around the country to meet demand.
Courses can be tailored to meet the requirements of organisations and companies wishing to train selected staff.
