P.J. Walsh & Company was established in 1937 by the late Patrick J. Walsh. The practice operated out of Apex House D'Olier Street, Dublin until its move to its present location 12 Upper Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin in 1981. Mr Wash was a specialist in the areas of licensing, landlord and tenant and personal injury litigation.
In 1973, John M. Sexton joined the practice as a Partner and subsequently was joined in 1974 by Michael P. Walsh. The areas of law undertaken by the practice were expanded with a significant increase in the client base which necessitated the relocation to more extensive offices at the present location.
The practice offers a full range of legal services and the current professional staff comprises John M. Sexton, Principal, Owen O'Sullivan, Joan Passi and Clare Feddis. Michael P. Walsh is a Consultant to the practice, having retired from the Partnership in June 2007.
The professional staff are supported by an experienced team of paralegals, all of whom have many years' experience in the areas of law specifically undertaken by the firm, namely general litigation, conveyancing, probate, family and employment law, licensing and professional regularatory work.
Clare originally graduated with a Business Studies Diploma in 1988 commencing a Legal Studies Diploma the following year. Upon completion of that Diploma, Clare was offered an apprenticeship in P.J. Walsh & Company and qualified as a Solicitor in 1995. Clare always worked in the area of litigation and shortly after qualifying she was given the responsibility of developing a Family Law practice for the firm. Although Clare remains the solicitor in charge of litigation, her particular area of interest and practice over the last 15 years has been in the area of Family Law. Clare advises clients on all aspects of Family Law including Deeds of Separation, Judicial Separation, Divorce and non-marital cases both in the Circuit and High Courts. She also advises on the preparation of co-habitation, prenuptial agreements and civil partnership. Clare has graduate training in both arbitration and mediation equipping her with additional skills to deal with the challenges that face clients in cases of relationship breakdown and allowing her to seek early resolution of a Family Law dispute without recourse to the Courts. If settlement is not possible through mediation or otherwise Clare will manage the necessary litigation.
