What is Mediation?

Mediation is defined as:

A voluntary, non-adversarial alternative dispute resolution process in which a third party, the mediator, assists clients of a relatively equal bargaining position reach a mutually satisfactory agreement.

Mediation is most useful in helping to resolve disputes where the parties need to co-operate in the future. Examples include commercial disputes between partners, shareholders, or people in close commercial relationships, and of course married or unmarried people who have children in common and want to uncouple but continue to act as parents to their children.

The mediator remains balanced, impartial,ndoes not take sides and assists the parties reach an agreement they will all be able to live with.
